FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We know that working with a designer can feel a little mysterious at times! At Studio Gaspo, we pride ourselves on transparency and want you to feel as comfortable as possible working with us. If we didn't answer your question below, feel free to email us!
HOW DO I START WORKING WITH YOU? First of all, we’re thrilled that you’re considering Studio Gaspo for your Orlando interior design needs. Please fill out our design questionnaire and we’ll be in touch within 2 business days (and usually sooner if at all possible!)
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO WORK WITH YOU? Every client, project, and scope is different, so this is a tough one to answer. However, most of our clients’ budgets start around $15k for one to two rooms. There is a lot that goes into the design of a room - from furniture, draperies, art, and accessories to labor to receiving and installing all of the moving parts. Hiring an interior designer is an investment in your home. If you don’t think you meet our minimum budget for full-service interior design, please reach out about our e-design services.
WHAT ADDITIONAL COSTS CAN I EXPECT? I try to be very transparent with both my design fees and my product markups. However, there are additional costs associated with shipping, storage, delivery, and installation. The need for unexpected labor does occasionally arise.
CAN I SHOP ON MY OWN? You have hired me to design and complete a vision for your space and I ask that you do not select or purchase items because that selection may not be a fit for the design, space, or budget. However, I'm more than happy to work with furniture, art, accessories, etc. that you already own and would like incorporated into your space. If you find something that you truly love, I’d appreciate it if you ran it by me prior to purchasing.
DO YOU WORK WITH CONTRACTORS? I work with the contractors hired by the client. I love working with other design professionals to create your custom space. I prefer to use professionals that I have worked with on previous projects and can provide recommendations when necessary. Studio Gaspo does not provide contractor services; so independent architects and contractors hired by the client are an integral part of the process.
HOW LONG DO PROJECTS NORMALLY LAST? This depends on the scope of the project and what is purchased. For a project that doesn’t include renovation, you can expect it to take about 12-16 weeks from kick off to completion. Occasionally there are delays caused by weather, vendor vacations, factory errors, and other unpredictable influences, that are out of my control. The client as well as all professionals hired to work on the project are expected to not cause unreasonable delays in the project.
CAN I INCREASE THE SCOPE OF MY PROJECT ONCE WE’VE STARTED? Since I work on a flat fee basis, increasing the scope of your project will also increase the design fee accordingly. Anything added to the scope will be billed on an hourly basis. Generally, increasing the scope is not a problem, but you will be billed to do so.
WHAT ABOUT BUDGET? We work to respect your budget, whether you are looking for a completely custom masterpiece, more along the lines of West Elm, or a mix of the two. Having a budget is very important for the project running smoothly and for your expectations to be met. That being said, full service interior design is an investment, and isn’t for everyone. If you’re on a tighter budget, our e-design services may be a better fit for you.
HOW ARE ITEMS DELIVERED? Our policy is to perform one large installation of all your items. This includes all furniture and accessories purchased. Items purchased by Studio Gaspo go into a licensed, bonded, insured and climate-controlled warehouse awaiting installation. It is our policy to not deliver items to client’s homes directly or in multiple trips. Clients are responsible for all shipping, storage, delivery, & install fees. These fees can be significant, so if you are not prepared to include an install day in your budget, please discuss that with us up front. We may need to handle your project in more of an e-design manner, where items are delivered to your home and you are responsible for receiving, assembling, and placing them. If you’d like me to come add accessories and style after you have received everything, I can do so at an hourly rate, which is separate from the design fee.
